In our previous blog posts we’ve shared 2 different tests related to anxiety and trauma, and today I will share one more – quick depression test.
As many other depression tests online, it is at least a bit helpful to learn more about your mental health status.
How to do this test? For each statement, rate how often you have experienced these symptoms over the past two weeks:
0 = Not at all
1 = Several days
2 = More than half the days
3 = Nearly every day
Let’s start!
1. You had very little interest or pleasure in doing things on a daily basis. Including things you once enjoyed. (rate from 0 to 3 for all questions)
2. Are you very often feeling down, depressed, or hopeless?
3. Do you have trouble falling or staying asleep, or sleeping too much? If you have troubles with insomnia , read this article and learn how to help yourself.
4. Are you feeling tired or having little energy?
5. Do you experience poor appetite or overeating?
6. Are you feeling bad about yourself—or that you are a failure or have let yourself or your family down?
7. Do you have trouble concentrating on things, such as reading or watching TV? Most often, even finishing a movie can represent a challenge.
8. Moving or speaking so slowly that other people notice? Or being so fidgety or restless that you move more than usual?
9. Thoughts that you would be better off dead, or thoughts of hurting yourself? These are some suicide signs no one should ignore.
How to do the scoring of your testing? It’s super simple – take a look below:
0-4 = Minimal or no depression;
5-9 = Mild depression;
10-14 = Moderate depression;
15-19 = Moderately severe depression;
20-27 = Severe depression.
If your score is 10 or higher, consider seeking help from a mental health professional. If you scored any points on question 9, it’s very important to reach out to someone you trust or a crisis hotline immediately. 💙
