Do you know how to spot different types of narcissists?

According to Wikipedia, a narcissist is someone who has a very self-centered personality style and and is always preoccupied with own needs, with a fact of neglecting everyone else.

The name came from a Greek mythological figure, Narcissus, who fell in love with himself while watching his mirrored face in the lake.

It’s said that there are like 3% of narcissistic people in our society, but lately everyone has been talking that they’ve met at least one narcissist in their life.

Is this becoming a trend, or are narcissists on the raise, due to forced self love and self centrism because of modern age and Internet, especially social media?

Narcissism is always grandiose in some way – they think and dream big of themselves. But it can be related to many other life fields as well, such as parenting, work, and sex.

A narcissist can also have a vulnerable form, and it will be followed by excessive rage. All their long-term relationships are always related to constant admiration and approval.

Besides all that, I have noticed that you can recognize 5 different sorts of narcissists in our society by simply watching out for these symptoms and signs:

A woman in the devil costume.
  1. Malignant narcissist. This one is related to being manipulative, sadistic, deceptive, and vindictive. His desire for revenge is easily recognized, even with minor events.
  2. A covert one. A bit more difficult to spot, a covert narcissist will leave you confused. He or she is insecure and resentful, passive, and always comes in a role of a victim.
  3. Overt narcissist. This may be your boss or someone from your workplace. They are characterized by arrogance, domination, and are showy and entitled.
  4. Communal narcissist. They are usually part of a community and will try to gain their power through representing oneself as someone who knows everything, has special wisdom or spirituality. They are most of the times part of a sect or something like that. Narcissism can be a part of an entire group or a community as well.
  5. Antagonist narcissism. Always competitive and aggressive, looking at everyone around themselves as of a competition. They are jealous and always starting arguments. Very controlling.

How is your experience with narcissist?

Do you think that today, we are marking everyone with this diagnosis?

Remember that psychologists and psychiatrists claim that some level of narcissism is healtyh.

In some of my next articles, I will write more about narcissism – or even better, an each blog post about all narcissistic groups and sorts.
