What can we do to improve our work experience? It doesn’t matter if you are currently enjoying your job or not, what you can always do is to set healthy boundaries and improve your daily quality of life.
Here are the best tips to achieve that:
- Don’t be available on the weekends and after working hours. Mute everything related to your job and don’t answer to calls, messages, and emails. We are doing this with a purpose to take a real rest and avoid burnout in the future, which is more common within people who are in the grieving process.
- Leaving the office at the scheduled time. It’s a must to respect the company’s working hours, but don’t overwork and stay long hours if that’s not needed.
- Discussing your salary expectations. If you are not satisfied with your earnings, feel free to discuss about the salary without feeling bad about it.
- Stepping away from toxic colleagues. There is always at least one toxic colleague at every workplace. Remind yourself to escape being trapped in their toxic behaviour. It will just drain your energy.
- Being rushed. If you find yourself being constantly rushed, know that you can ask for access and inputs upfront to stop this from happening.
- Stop covering your lazy coworkers. As simple as that – no one will thank you for that extra work.
- Being assigned someone else’s task. Learn to say a simple NO when someone assigns you a task that’s not yours and name the owner who should be responsible for it.
- Decline recurring meetings. Do this until they prove value with clear decisions or actions.
- Take your lunch break and do it without feeling guilty.
