Types of tiredness

Feeling tired all the time? Yet nothing improves when you are trying to take a rest in a way you always do?

Maybe your tiredness is of a different form. There are more than 7 types of tiredness, and before you try to fix it and take that well-deserved rest, it’s always a good idea to know what you’re dealing with.

  1. Physically tired. The first and most common one, comes from extreme physical activities and work (most of the times). Your body feels worn out and typical rest can fix it. It can come from illness as well.
  2. Mentally fatigued. Here, a typical rest including a long sleep and good eating habits may not fix the problem. It comes from brain overload, overthinking, as well as daily decision-making. What helps here is to write down what really matters and try to set straight and clear priorities. The first priority would be putting your own well-being first and letting go of trying to control and fix everything, even for a few days.
  3. Emotionally drained. Constantly experiencing very strong and negative feelings will leave you drained and overwhelmed. It is a typical feeling in the grieving process, especially connected with complicated grief.

4. Sensory overstimulated. A very common one in the modern world, where we are constantnly online and available to everyone 24/7. It truly is a must to set digital balance and stick to it. Maybe you even want to take a bigger break from online world? Sensory overstimulation can come from light and loud noise as well, so you know what to do to help yourself overcome it.

5. Socially exhausted. Too much social interaction can drain the energy out of you, especially if you haven’t set clear and healthy boundaries with others.

I need to take a break.

6. Morally injured. You feel deep internal conflict between actions and values. It means that you should rethink why you don’t act a certain way in life. Usually, it’s because others have told you to follow some values you don’t admire. Get back to yourself.

7. Creatively stuck. It happens when you feel like being blocked or empty, having no energy to be inspired and to create. Just step aside and take some rest – thinking about literally anything else. Writer’s block is very common, too.

8. Burned out. In the end, we have a burnout I already wrote about on our blog. Simply, it represents a chronic state of stress where pressure exceeds capacity.
