My New Year Ideas – Here’s What I’ve Wished For In 2025

In one of the previous articles on our blog, we wrote about how to survive Christmas and holidays in general after the loss of a child.

I truly hope that you weren’t severely depressed and that you at least experienced some moments of joy.

In general, I never write ”New Year New Me” lists, but this time I want to share something with you.

This is what I wish for myself in 2025:

1. To live in the present moment. I wish to live in a moment as much as possible – I must admit that I am truly sick and tired of constantly planning life ahead. It is okay to have some idea about direction of your life but I don’t want to plan much ahead for small and simple things.

When we do that, we are missing this precious moment, and even activating anxiety.

2. To be braver in life.We have already shared some tips that will help you to become braver in life. I want to try new things and stop being afraid of new outcomes. It is okay to feel afraid – bravery is not the absence of fear. Bravery is feeling fear but doing something anyway.

3. Stop creating negative outcomes in my head. Are you tired of all those what ifs? Because I truly am… Let’s overcome that bad habit together. Let’s focus on positive, or at least realistic outcomes. I know that our tragedy has changed us and made us think this way, but I still believe we can fight it.

4. Slow down and have more patience. Did you know that the best way to regulate your nervous system is to slow down? There’s no hurry – we have time for everything. Nothing is more important than our well-being.

5. Get rid of some small negative habits. I’ll choose one or two of my small bad habits and try to get rid of them. For example, you can try to quit nail biting, or add more veggies to your diet.

6. Treat people in a way they deserve.I have already made this change but I want to stay on this path. I am not anymore feeling sorry for people who don’t deserve that. I am not serving people when they don’t get me anything back. Let’s stop people pleasing.

7. Forget about perfectionism. I feel like doing more most of the days. Like nothing is ever enough. What I learned within years is that this is very dangerous and can lead you to a burnout.

8. Limit screen time. Blue screen light can be truly toxic – it causes insomnia. When combined with bad news that you scroll endlessly, that’s when you trigger your mental health to get worse.

9. Ask for help when needed. For many years, I wanted to do everything all by myself. Let’s relearn that – I know this comes from trauma as well because you think that you cannot count on anyone in life.

I will find people who support me and how love me unconditionally, and I’ll be ready to accept their help when I need it.

I truly love to work on self-improvement. That’s probably the most important thing for life in me – it’s so fulfilling!

Share your ideas with us – what are your wishes and plans for yourself for this year?

Can you make some small changes that can have a great impact on the quality of your daily life?
