Recognizing old sorts of trauma in the healing process

The grief journey will reveal all your old mental health issues, including childhood traumas of different sorts.

Losing a child is traumatic event on its own, but it can definitely make your other mental health issues way worse. In this article, I wanted to represent you the patterns of 4 most common old traumas, so you can learn how to recognize them and start healing in a proper way.

  1. Rejection. A rejection trauma is always connected to the feeling that you are afraid that no one will be able to love you. It comes with low self-esteem as well. People with rejection trauma live in a constant fear of being judged and suffer from anxiety. The main goal here is to achieve the belief that others can love you and that you are lovable the way you are – you are enough.
  2. Abandonment. The second trauma I want to talk about is an abandonment trauma and is linked to different feelings including a fear of being alone, fear people will leave you, dependency issues, and trouble trusting others. The main goal we have in this type of trauma is to learn that we are safe and protected.
  3. Betrayal. Every single person on this planet has at least once felt betrayed. Yet having a betrayal trauma is different – you will have huge trust issues, control problems, anger, and fear of being heart again. You must learn to let go and trust again.
  4. Injustice. Life is not about justice – we have learned that as bereaved parents very well. The last type of trauma on this list I want to mention is injustice trauma, where a person starts hiding emotions, have a constant fear of being judged, feeling not enough, and trying to achieve perfectionism in everything. The key is to learn how to tell yourself that it’s safe to be you.
