I believe that there are two types of people in our society – those who are doing everything in their power to lift their mood up on a bad day, and those who give up on anything and even make themselves feel worse.
It’s okay to be the second version of the person from time to time, but in general – yes, you have to fight to feel better. But don’t worry, the tips I am bringing you right now are super easy and implementable into daily life. These are proven to make your serotonin levels rise:
1. Take a quick meditation. It doesn’t have to be anything long – even a 5-minute meditation will help you to clear your mind.
2. Get some sunshine. Sunshine will help you feel better, and it is highly recommended to get your daily doses of vitamin D in the morning. That’s when the Sun will give you the most of it, while you’ll also escape dangerious UV and UVB lights.
3. Count what’s good today. Make a list of 5 or 10 good things about today.
4. Call someone and tell them you love them. Share your positive emotions with people you are close to. They’ll be happy to hear that too.
5. Wish someone well. You can do it in a version of prayer, or just say good things inside yourself. Wish someone a happy and healthy life.
6. Help a person in need. Help a person in need – it can be a beggar, for example. Even a little help means a lot to them.
7. Journal it all out. Your mind can become messy, but you can solve that by writing everything down. Write down your thoughts so they won’t hunt you all the time.
8. Draw. If you’re good at drawing, create some art. Even if you’re not super talented, we invite you to become a part of our bereaved parent art section. Share your feelings with others who’ll understand you.
9. Dress up. Even if you don’t feel like dressing up – do it. Ladies, put on some makeup – like red lipstick or paint your nails. Change a hairstyle maybe?
10. Tidy up. The clearer the environment is, the clearer your thoughts will be. Mental health experts always suggest that you should start cleaning up from your desk.
Bonus tip – Eat your favorite dessert. It’s not the best option, but it’s an SOS situation, so yes, you can have a slice or two of your favorite cake! This will instantly make your dopamine and serotonin levels higher.
