What are the best drinks to calm down your nervous system?

Let’s talk about a bit lighter topic today. As you’ve realized so far, this website is related to everything you may find important or interesting during the hard times – from understanding the grieving process, through working on yourself and your relationships, to making some simple changes in your daily life and creating a improvement.

Today I want to create a list of healthy and helpful drinks that can make your nervous system calmer and let anxiety go away.

Feeling nervous? Having stomach issues? Thy these amazing drinks:

  1. Chamomile tea. Of course, no one is suprised to see a chamomile tea first on this list. It is great for lowering down stress, anxiety, as well as an upset stomach. It calms down the gut and your nerves super efficiently. If you are experiencing issues with insomnia, don’t forget to get a cup of tea with honey before you go to sleep.
  2. Peppermint tea. Another great choice, but avoid it if you have stomach problems such as GERD od gastritis. It will relax your body, but it can also relax digestive tract muscles a little bit too much if taken for too long.
  3. Ginger. As chamomile tea, ginger is the number one choice if you are having problems with stress, anxiety, and stomach.
  4. Lemon balm. This one is able to promote relaxation really well, and is also great for stress-related digestive issues.
  5. Valerian. Valerian is perfect for anyone who wants to calm down anxiety naturally, yet you have to know that it can also cause drowsiness.
  6. Green tea or matcha. Matcha is becoming more and more popular, and that’s definitely not because of its taste. Both of the mentioned drinks are rich with L-theanine, a compound that can naturally promote relaxation without drowsiness.
  7. Warm milk. It’s no wonder our grandparents were always giving us a cup of warm milk to sleep better. It’s true – warm milk, especially if served with honey, is capable to create a calming and sleep-inducing effect.
  8. Hot chocolate or dark cocoa. Flavonoids in hot chocolate (best 70% of cocoa) can potentially reduce anxiety. At least, we know that this drink is definitely raising serotonin levels, right?

What is your favorite drink that makes your body and mind calm?
