Taking care of your own well-being can have a huge impact on how you handle the grieving process.
If you don’t know from where to start, I have created a self-care checklist for you.
This how you can take great care of yourself in 3 different ways:
Taking care of your physical well-being should look like this:
- Find an active hobby. It can be anything you enjoy – from riding a bike, to talking a long walk. This will help you improve serotonin and dopamine levels in your body and get rid of anxiety.
- Spend more time outdoors – in nature. Get enough sunshine because it will increase your levels of vitamin D, which is crucial when fighting depression.
- Staying hydrated. If you don’t have a habit of drinking enough water, place a bottle of 1.5l water somewhere you can see it and make sure that it becomes empty until the end of the day.
- Good nutrition. Reflect on your eating habits and try to change something for the better at least from time to time. It doesn’t have to be anything big – everything counts!
- Rest. Always find time to rest. If you don’t find time to rest, your body will do it for you in a form of an illness.
Mental care list:
- Journal. Journaling is truly amazing for your mental care. Don’t know how to start? Take a look at my examples.
- Meditate or find some other way to calm down and practice deep breathing. Deep breathing techniques have a huge impact on anxiety and panic attacks.
- Be creative. Find some inspiration at our art section and express your feelings in a way you like.
- Organize your environment. Messy environment means messy head. Sort out and declutter.
- Set a goal. Set a goal, no matter how small, you can work on daily. This will provide meaning in life even when you don’t see any.

Emotional self-care:
- Setting healthy boundaries. Learn how to set healthy boundaries step by step. This article can help you achieve that.
- Positive self-talk. We also shared some useful tips related to overcoming negative self-talk that has a huge impact on your emotional well-being.
- Connection with others. Connect with people who lift you up and inspire you. Learn how to recognize an emotionally stable person.
- Digital detox. Get rid of a bad habit of doom scrolling and create a digital detox – this is why.
- Gratitude. Reflect on your life and express gratitude for all those beautiful things and moments – no matter how small they are.
