I already wrote an article related to the warning suicide signs, but are we truly aware of different sorts of suicidal behavior?
Today, I want to share some new perspective related to suicide, called slow suicide.
What does slow suicide mean? It means that the person isn’t committing a suicide as it is, but slowly dying each and every day by doing some of the following:
- Drinking yourself to death. Drinking on a daily basis and not worrying how it can affect your health. You don’t drink because you enjoy that glass anymore, but just to numb yourself.
- Addiction to drugs. Taking different sorts of drugs to escape daily reality, but also not being worried about the impact they leave on your body.
- Avoiding doctor appointments and regular health checks. You aren’t even worried about your health anymore because you don’t care in what state of well-being your body is. You don’t visit your doctor even when the strange symptoms are following you for months or even years.
- Self harm of any sort. It can be binge eating or biting your nails until they are covered in blood.
- Risky behavior. Maybe you got addicted to dopamine and started driving carelessly, or picked up a dangerous hobby, not caring if you will stay alive or it could kill you.
Can you think of some other bad behavior that could be a part of so-called slow suicide?
If something else comes to your mind, please leave a comment and I will put your idea to the list of this article.
All of the above, or better said symptoms related to slow suicide could also indicate that you are experiencing a complicated grief. Read more about it here.
