Besides those obvious suicidal signs where people talk about ending their lives and making plans to do it, there are some other, let’s say more subtle signs that someone is thinking about attempting suicide.
Here are alarming signs that someone truly needs help so they don’t end their life by their own hand:
- They talk about being a burden to everyone. They will probably start talking about how they are a burden to everyone and that people would live better without them.
- They talk about being trapped. A suicidal person may also feel like they are trapped in this life and that there is no other way out than suicide. This is especially true for people who have big life problems, such as illness, a huge debt or have recently lost a loved person in their life.
- They will start giving away their precious things and possessions. They will start giving away all those things that once meant a lot to them.
- If they are depressed for a while, their mood can suddenly improve to unrecognizable levels. Many don’t know, but people with clinical depression may suddenly improve their mood before committing suicide. It’s like they feel everything is solved.
- Rage and revenge. Showing rage all the time and thinking about revenge are also signs of suicidal behavior. This will mostly happen if they are trapped in the anger phase of the grieving process.
Besides these top 5 signs, they may also start living more recklessly, or turn to addictions. Their mood will change all the time but usually stay between depression and anger.
